The Ten Principles of Arya Samaj
The Arya Samaj is founded on ten universal principles that guide our spiritual, moral, and social conduct. These principles are rooted in the eternal wisdom of the Vedas and serve as a beacon for righteous living and global harmony.
- God is the primary source of all true knowledge and all that is known by its means.
- God is formless, omnipotent, omniscient, and benevolent. He is the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of the universe. He is worthy of worship.
- The Vedas are the scriptures of true knowledge. It is the paramount duty of every Arya to read them, teach them, hear them, and recite them to others.
- One should always be ready to accept truth and renounce untruth.
- All acts should be performed in accordance with Dharma, i.e., after deliberating what is right and wrong.
- The primary aim of Arya Samaj is to do good to the whole world, i.e., to promote physical, spiritual, and social well-being of everyone.
- Our conduct towards all should be guided by love, righteousness, and justice.
- We should dispel ignorance and promote knowledge.
- One should not be content with one's own welfare alone, but should look for it in the welfare of others also.
- One should regard oneself under restriction to follow the rules of society calculated to promote the well-being of all, while one is free to follow rules promoting individual well-being.
These principles are not just ideals—they are a way of life. We invite you to reflect on them, live by them, and share them with others.
